Anything can look like anything, buttons have no borders, contrast doesn’t exist, and neither do conventions. But building your voice agent yourself - even a stripped-down one - is still a worthwhile exercise. It forces you to understand what the parameters actually control, why certain defaults exist, and where the real bottlenecks live. That understanding makes you better at configuring the off-the-shelf platforms, and in some cases lets you build something more bespoke when your use case demands it.
